Shocking Pink Noir
Hola Fahrenhistas,
As most of you know we ran silent on book & merch promo in last week’s newsletter to urge you all to divert your spending towards relief efforts for the horrible situation unfolding in Ukraine.
We were humbled by your generous response and by all of you who clearly took our advice and donated generously - we’ve never been happier to take pennies at the till over a weekend than we were last week.
Obviously the situation in Ukraine is going to keep developing and we’re working on a plan to raise funds and offer on-going support which we’ll announce soon, but in the meantime we think the best thing we can do is to get back down to business this week to make sure Fahrenheit is in as strong a position as we can be to offer further support moving forward.
Right, so here we go, let’s paint on a fake smile and crack on…
We’re over the moon to announce the new issue of Fahrenzine is BETHANY NEVER by JACKIE SWIFT
As ever we don't want to say too much about the plot as we know that surprise is an important part of the whole Fahrenzine experience.
What we can tell you just to whet your appetite is that BETHANY NEVER is a multi-character narrative that explores the events surrounding a schoolgirl's attempted assassination of the Prime Minister.
Yeah, it’s a belter.
BETHANY NEVER is written by Fahrenheit newbie Jackie Swift who's debut novel The Transit Of Lola Jones was published in late 2020 and has recently been re-released in an updated edition in advance of the publication of the 2nd book in the series which is coming very soon.
If you haven’t discovered Lola Jones yet we really recommend you get cracking on Book 1 in the series so you’re ready for the explosive sequel which we’ll be announcing very very soon.
Jackie is already working on Book 3 so rest assured Lola is going to be a feature of Fahrenheit for years to come - we reckon if you like Derek Farrell’s books you’ll love Lola Jones.
In empty book news our notebooks continue to be very popular - they even popped up in Writer’s Magazine this month - we were particularly chuffed that we were sandwiched next to a piece about the cooler than cool Rick Rubin.
The CRIME SCENE DO NOT CROSS notebook has moved firmly into first place btw - not too surprising, they’re absolutely lush - we suspect it’s only a matter of time before we get our first handwritten submission delivered to us in a set of our own notebooks….
In some exciting NEW SIGNING news -
It’s taken much longer than we’d have imagined but the hot editorial news this week is that we’ve just signed a contract for the first book on our list named after a Wu Tang Clan song.
We won’t tell you what it is yet (though you’re welcome to guess) - the book itself is by a someone who has been writing at the very highest level for over 25 years but this will be their Fahrenheit debut which we’re very excited about - honestly this book is 100% Gold - you’re all gonna love it plus you can only imagine how excited the Fahrenheit Merch Elves are getting at the thought of a whole bunch of Wu Tang / Fahrenheit mash-ups…
Great books deserve great covers and we’ve been getting a lot of positive noise on our socials about our book covers and the way our designers continually manage to undermine the normal old tropes of crime fiction. If you’re someone who loves them as much as we do you might be interested to know that they’re setting up a non-Fahrenheit side-hustle - we’ll of course give you details when they give us the nod.
In the meantime why not enjoy their artwork by putting them on your bookshelves - the books inside aren’t half bad either.
Okay, that’s about all from us this week.
We’re setting-up to watch some Six Nations rugby this weekend to distract us from everything else that’s going on in the world - we hope you can find something equally as soothing for your soul (maybe buy a book or something).
If you’re going out stay safe and look out for each other - smile at a stranger maybe -we’re all so on the edge at the moment that a small act of kindness like a smile might just be the thing that makes it easier for someone to get through their day in one piece.
Sending all our love to you and out into the universe.
We kiss you
xx
