Hola Fahrenhistas,
Last week we announced the publication date for Jo Perry’s new novel The World Entire - it’ll be hitting the shelves on 22nd March 2024 and you REALLY don’t want to miss this one.
Just for fun we deliberately didn’t tell you a single thing about it, and it’s been genuinely heartening to see how many of you have taken our word for just how great this book is, and taken a leap of faith by pre-ordering.
We’re not the only ones who think The World Entire is something a bit special - we gave a sneak preview to a few authors we admire, this is what they had to say…
“Decidedly literary and unapologetically noir, this is a monster of a beautiful book... a triumph.” Matt Phillips, author of A Good Rush of Blood and Know Me from Smoke
“A complete original. Everything happens–murder, mayhem, love and loss–to humans and pets alike. I loved this book.” –Steven Cooper, author of the Alex Mills and Gus Parker mysteries
“The World Entire perfectly captures LA’s beauty, ugliness and energy. This finely observed and artfully crafted novel shows Perry to be the poet she was and ever will be.” -Josh Gidding, author of Failure: An Autobiography
"Powerful and propulsive, The World Entire is about murder, hatred and love’s redemptive power. A hymn to L.A.’s frustrating and fabulous beauty, it deserves a place alongside Chandler, Ellroy and Mosely. -Derek Farrell, author of The Danny Bird Mysteries
Seriously, get your order in now and take advantage of the pre-order price.
Speaking of taking advantage, someone got in touch last week to ask about The Fahrenheit Book Club - that wanted to know if they subscribed to the book-club would Jo Perry’s book be included as one of the 6 books they’d be due as part of their subscription?
Honestly, we hadn’t given it any real thought - but as it turns out the next Fahrenheit Book Club choice actually is The World Entire so anyone who subscribes before the end of February WILL RECEIVE A COPY - not only that, they’ll receive it a FULL TWO WEEKS before it’s officially published.
Yup, not only do you get a great deal on The World Entire, you also get your copy delivered (p&p free) before anyone else in the world, and still have ANOTHER 5 AWESOME BOOKS TO LOOK FORWARD TO OVER THE REST OF THE YEAR.
- it’s called gaming the system and we’re totally fine with it.
Speaking about AWESOME BOOKS - we’re delighted to say that the response to H.B. O’Neill’s debut novel According To Mark has been universally great - the reviews are starting to hit and we’re currently hitting a PERFECT FIVE STAR RATING on Amazon. Here’s just a few of them…
According to Mark is the tender and heartfelt story of Robert, slightly unhinged, in love and grieving who hears Mark Twain in his head and Rebecca, his very patient and practical girlfriend. Told from both points of view, it was at times funny and at others sad and as confusing as Roberts thoughts. I loved the way the author managed to convey the difficulties of an unquiet mind and its effect on those around Robert.
Came across this and very glad I did. At times funny but also emotionally powerful. Loved the main characters; with all their flaws they felt very real. Interesting themes and I learnt a lot about Mark Twain too! P.S. Even the acknowledgments amused me.
I don’t actually know how to describe this book, or what to compare it with. But I loved it. A genuinely surprising novel that had me gripped throughout. I highly recommend it.
We really can’t recommend this book enough - we reckon it’s definitely going to be recognised as the Best Debut Novel of 2024 when the award season hits.
Okay that’s all from us this week, we’ll mainly be spending the weekend watching the rugby. This weekend it’s THE BIG ONE - Scotland -v- England - and The Boss has promised to do a MASSIVE GIVEWAY if his beloved Scotland raise The Calcutta Cup for the 3rd year in a row so keep your eyes peeled on our socials to see just how carried away he gets.
