Hola Fahrenhistas,
Well, what a start to 2024 it’s been for Fahrenheit.
In case you missed the news we began the year with the announcement that David Nolan’s Manc Noir Trilogy was headed to a TV screen near you.
If you haven’t read these books yet we can guarantee you’re in for a proper treat - in fact if you buy any of David’s books this weekend we’ll give you an automatic 15% DISCOUNT - can’t say fairer than that, right? (No need for a promo-code, the discount will be automatically applied at the checkout.)
And now as if all the excitement about our books being on the telly isn’t enough, we’ve got something a little bit special for you all to start your reading year with.
Next Friday (2nd February 2024) we’ll be publishing According To Mark, the debut novel from the latest author to join the Fahrenheit gang, his name is H.B. O’Neill and we think his book is gonna absolutely blow your minds.
This book was actually found by Fahrenheit author Ian Ayris who came across it when he was running a creative writing course as part of his work with Pen To Print in his beloved Borough of Barking and Dagenham. (If you haven’t heard of Pen To Print you can find out all about this excellent organisation here.)
Ian was absolutely blown away with this book and he persuaded Fahrenheit boss-man Chris McVeigh to have a look at it - we’ll let McVeigh take up the story…
“I asked Ian to get the guy to send it over to me and I read it cover to cover in about 4 sessions over a single weekend (always a good sign) and by the following Tuesday I had H.B. O’Neill on the phone offering to publish it. According To Mark isn't really like anything else we've published - it's certainly not crime or thriller - honestly I wasn’t certain where it would fit on our list but the one thing I knew for sure was that I wanted Fahrenheit to publish it."
You should know by now that when a book hits The Boss this hard it’s gonna be a belter.
You should also know that when an author of Ian Ayris’ talent goes into bat for a manuscript it’s gonna be something special - here’s what he had to say.
“A broken man seeking answers in a broken world. Channelling Lewis Carroll, Spike Milligan and Twain himself, it’s full of laugh-out-loud humour, yet also a book filled with terrible heartache and searing pain. And in these times, I sense it’s a book of great importance. ‘According To Mark’ is a novel of truly stunning originality.”
So what’s it all about then? It’s a difficult one to describe but we’ll give it a go - here’s what we’ve written on the tin…
Robert is unravelling.
Following a devastating break up he finds himself distraught, desperate, and increasingly confused.
When his literary hero, Mark Twain begins to communicate with him, Robert initially takes solace in Twain’s innate wisdom. Quite quickly though warning bells start to sound, and it becomes clear that Mark's whispered, often cryptic advice, could prove dangerous.
As Robert's mental health continues to deteriorate, he embarks on a quest around London using Twain’s words as his guide and inspiration.
Will listening to his hero lead to solace and recovery, or is it an undertaking that can only end in tragedy?
So there you have it, one of the most exciting books we’ve ever published could be on your doorstep by this time next week if you pre-order it this weekend - we really suggest you do yourself a favour and get all over this one.
Okay that’s all from us this week folks, we’re starting 2024 strong and re-invigorated and we really hope you are too…
We kiss you.
xx
This trilogy is extraordinary! I've been screaming David Nolan's name off the rooftops!
This sounds like the perfect book for this moment. Can't wait.
